Winter 2008
Report - September 30, 2008
Hi friends,
The cafeteria/bakery continues to progress. The impending arrival of the container (assumed but not confirmed) is anticipated as early as October 10th. Our guess is that it may have been shipped September 12th.
The quickest a container has arrived is three weeks. If that were to happen the container could be here by this Friday but we would not be ready for it.
This motivates us to prepare as much as possible, as quickly as possible so that we can put the container items in the cafeteria and not have to move the equipment more than necessary. Plus to avoid possible theft, or damage due to the elements.
CURRENT PROGRESS:
- Tile setting. (BI funds purchased the floor tiles). Nearly half the cafeteria floor is complete (see picture). The floor should be completed by October 10th. Hopefully before the container arrives. (BI funding also paid for the tile setters labor through Saturday, September 27). We have added workers in order to complete it in time. We are prioritizing all the work to facilitate the reception of anticipated bakery equipment on the container. Versatech engineer oversees the work.
- BI funds purchased external windows and doors which are now installed (see photo). Yet lacking; one rear external door. Plan to purchase and install by October 10th.
External rear cafeteria walls are 84% complete. Anticipate completion of walls by next week, October 10th. (See attached photo). Family Circus team members are assisting with the labor as much as possible without neglecting the ongoing work of the ministry.
- Walk-in coolers 80% assembled. Lacking two compressor units and two cooler doors. Not sure if they are in container or need to be purchased. Anticipate completion October 10th.
- Roof over rear section of cafeteria housing the walk-in coolers – to be constructed. Anticipate completion October 10th.
- Electrical: Transformer and breaker box, including wiring yet to be purchased and installed. Estimated cost $2500. (Details with eng.) To be purchased when funds are available.
- Funds: Due to time constraints and anticipated soon arrival of the container; Family Circus is currently covering the expense for all materials and labor expenses to enable that the container items will be received and placed in a safe and secure location. These funds are coming from Family Circus operating funds and or our personal funds. ALO has covered the anticipated customs fees for delivery of the container.
In it for the King & His kids, Darrell & Sandy Blatchley

Urgent Needs - Spring 2008
|
 |
In March 2008 we received a donation to pay off the C-10 property which was overdue scheduled to be paid the end of January 08 (Economic situation in US impacted us negatively). God miraculously provided and the funds were received from a donor that sold their Harley motorcycle to purchase the lot for the children. The balance on C-10 is for the taxes which is US $3,750.00 needing paid ASAP.
We’ve just been informed that two lots C-14 and C-15 with balances of $8,000 and $11,000 respectively are needing paid also ASAP due to the owners (elderly) both in critical health in and out of the hospital. If they die before the property is paid off we are advised by our attorney that there is the potential of the heirs stepping in and demanding higher payment. (The current owners are selling the property at under appraised value and are happy to be a blessing this way to the children’s ministry. Pray with us. Need is again ASAP.
C-9 Comes due the end of May.
The bakery will be having it’s ceiling poured within the next few days. Then a container of kitchen equipment will be sent. We need $1800 to put in the flooring and about $500 for painting the insides of the bakery and another $950 for electrical and plumbing needs.
Current property balances (updated 5/21/2008):
- C-3 PAID
- C-4 PAID
- C-5 PAID
- C-6 $ 31,875.00
- C-7 $ 28,125.00
- C-8 $ 2,250.00
- C-9 PAID
- C-10 PAID
- C-11 $ 25,000.00
- C-12 $ 25,000.00
- C-13 $ 21,250.00
- C-14 $ 8,000.00
- C-15 $ 9,000.00
- C-16 PAID
Total property balance = $150,000
Taxes estimate balance = $3,750 x 10
Total Taxes = $37,500

Family Circus Children’s Ministry was created by Assembly of God Church missionaries Darrell and Sandy Blatchley in 1993 to produce high impact, joyful methods presenting the Gospel (#1) to children and (#2) to their families.
The purpose of the Family Circus is to bring the life and joy of Jesus, combining both discipleship and evangelism, to reach lost children, while ministering to the needs of the child, both spiritual and physical.
Each week five to six thousand people of all ages attend the Family Circus church services held under the ‘Big Top’, a big circus tent pitched in the center of the densely populated “Muslim Friendship Village in Davao City, Mindanao City, PHILIPPINES. Approximately 4,000 of the 6,000 member congregation are children, half of which are malnourished. More than 1,000 are adults.
